Drumming Circle with the Abbey North Drummers on Thursday,
May 13 7 - 8pm @ Sunnybrook United Church. Their Mission:
Based in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada, we drum to help charitable organizations raise awareness and funds to support HIV/AIDS work in Africa. They are also dedicated to ecological living, social justice and the delegitimization of war. This is shown in their commitment to the Dondi Project which commits to raise at least $1,000,000 over 12 months in support of local efforts to transform education in Angola by helping to fund the reconstruction and restoration of the Dondi school, destroyed through years of conflict and civil war. Come and enjoy an evening of a drumming circle and conversation with the Abbey North Drummers.

You are invited to a three day Get Away at Kasota East Camp June 8th – 10th . "Fear, Faith, and Finding God in the midst of a hectic life" with keynote speaker Very Rev. David Giuliano, our former moderator, plus a variety of workshops; or if you can’t make the whole event, consider attending the Wednesday evening Banquet, Keynote Address and entertainment by Visions Country Gospel. For more detailed information and to register, visit: http://www.unitedchurchyouth.ca/RDPYM/Fear,_Faith,_God.html

PLEASE NOTE that the deadline for registration is May 14, 2010. So get your registration in soon as you can to secure a spot. The Wednesday night banquet, entertainment, and keynote address is included in the three day registration fee. Funds from this event will be used for the Director of Camp and Youth Ministry of Red Deer Presbytery.

Kasota East Camp is calling all children and youth to enjoy the unique camping experiences it has to offer this summer.

Kasota East Camp is sponsored by Red Deer Presbytery of the United Church of Canada. This 40 acre gem of God’s creation is nestled on the south shores of Sylvan Lake and is a place where children, youth and families can enjoy canoeing, swimming, crafts, nature activities, games, theme sessions, music, drama, hiking, campfires, and so much more.

Throughout July & August, there are camps for youth in Grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 8-10, a Family Camp, A Scuba Camp and a Counsellors in Training program for youth who are 15 and older.

THE GAETZ CONNECTORS - Pastoral care was noted as a need in the strategic report and the cottage meetings. Our church has people who visit the hospital on a regular basis. The AOTS and UCW groups keep in touch with their members. Our goal is to make our members feel connected to our church family. If you or someone you know is a shut-in, new to our church, recovering from an illness, newlyweds, recently baptized, bereaved, or simply need a visit by phone or in person, we are a group willing to extend our hand in friendship. Please call the church office and they will forward your request to our group. If you would like to be part of the visiting group, your help would be most appreciated. Please phone Rosemary at 346-6041 if you are interested in being part of the group.

The Scholarship committee is now accepting applications or nominations. This year we ask that all submissions be by June 1 with a short letter describing the students contributions.
